Adtran is integrating Intel's NetSec Accelerator Reference Design with its Ensemble Cloudlet solution to enhance edge cloud deployments. This collaboration brings advanced security, faster data processing and improved networking performance to meet the rising demand for robust edge cloud solutions.

Intel's reference design for expansion cards offers flexibility in deploying encryption acceleration and compute offload capabilities, providing a cost-effective and efficient solution for modular and scalable cloud infrastructure at the network edge and customer premises.

The extension of Ensemble Cloudlet to support Intel's technology provides several benefits, including zero-touch provisioning, migration, backup, recovery capabilities for edge cloud infrastructure as well as access to a broad ecosystem of pre-integrated software application partners.

Mike Heffner, GM of business solutions at Adtran, emphasized the tailored solution's ability to streamline workload hosting, enhance network performance and deliver a turnkey platform that combines scalable processing with intuitive control.

The Intel NetSec Accelerator Reference Design, an advanced PCIe add-in card based on Intel processors, supports processor-intensive edge cloud workloads. When paired with Ensemble Cloudlet, it enables operators to orchestrate and manage mission-critical edge applications on a cost-effective and scalable server. This server-on-a-card enhances performance, scale, and efficiency in enterprise and service provider edge cloud setups, making it ideal for security workloads such as IPsec, SSL/TLS, firewall, SASE, analytics and inferencing.

The integrated solution supports various use cases, including network-as-a-service (NaaS), secure networking overlays like SD-WAN/SSE/ZTNA, and AI/ML processing offload. These use cases seamlessly integrate into existing server infrastructure within the customer's IT environment without requiring additional server investments.

The collaborative platform enables operators of edge cloud infrastructure to optimize application management and control through an intuitive, unified interface.

Bob Ghaffari, VP of network and edge group, and GM of enterprise and cloud network division at Intel, highlighted the importance of flexible and powerful hardware seamlessly working with open and intelligent software solutions to address the challenges faced by organizations at the edge.
