Carlos Slim Domit, Chairman of the Board of América Móvil, met with Santiago Peña, President of Paraguay, and expressed his interest in investing in the country.

"We all know that technology and connectivity are enablers for everything happening in this new era, to be able to expand social programs such as education, health, job creation, and we are very happy to see the focus that Paraguay has for all this development and very eager to participate, continue investing, and growing with the country," said Slim Domit.

On social media, the Mexican businessman expressed his gratitude to the president for the opportunity to reaffirm their commitment to ongoing work and investment in Paraguay.

The comment was in response to a message shared by the Paraguayan President on his X account, where he mentioned his meeting with Slim Domit, describing him as "one of the most important businessmen in Mexico."

Peña highlighted that they discussed the great investment opportunities that Paraguay has to offer in key sectors such as technology, telecommunications, and infrastructure.

"We are committed to attracting foreign investment that drives economic growth and generates jobs for Paraguayans," emphasized the Paraguayan President.

Slim Domit added that Paraguay is a country where they have been investing for many years, stating, “We believe it is a country that brings, in addition to great dynamism, a very important focus on the development of technologies."

Data from GSMA Intelligence indicates that there were 7.72 million cellular mobile connections in Paraguay at the start of 2024. These numbers from the GSMA Intelligence indicate that mobile connections in Paraguay were equivalent to 111.8 percent of the total population in January 2024.

Notably, the number of mobile connections in Paraguay increased by 127,000 (+1.7%) between the start of 2023 and the start of 2024, demonstrating the population’s desire for enhanced technology, telecommunications, and infrastructure.
