What a difference two years can make! 2022 is the 44th annual PTC gathering. PTC has certainly been on an interesting journey in our industry when you consider that at PTC’20, we celebrated together in Honolulu at the best Annual Conference Pacific Telecommunications Council ever held, with record attendance at the Hilton Hawaiian Village®.

Telecom Review North America was once again a PTC Media partner and was happy to assist in the promotion of this leading industry event.

However, 2021 was a different story as we had to live with new realities, which in fact, was also the theme of the online conference held in lieu of a live event in the face of COVID-19. These “new realities” gave us the opportunity to learn how to deliver a virtual event, and consequently, evolve PTC’22 into what will be our first-ever hybrid conference. The 2022 Pacific Telecommunications Council (PTC) Board of Governors elected its officers this past weekend at PTC’22.

At PTC 2022 the 2022 Board of Governors elected new officers and that includes:

President & Chair: Sean Bergin, Co-founder & President, APTelecom, Cambodia

Vice President: Paul McCann, Managing Director, McCann Consulting International, Australia

Treasurer: Brian Tellam, Partner, Cornerstone Capital Partners, Australia

Secretary: Timothy Logue, Principal, TJLNova Consulting, USA

Renew. – through its keynotes, panel sessions, and workshops as organized by the conference committee and PTC stakeholders – will attempt to envision what awaits us in 2022 and beyond.

There are so many learnings to be shared on the back of what has transpired over the last two years and yet, we will no doubt have many new and unforeseen challenges to prepare for. If any industry has the power to collaborate and communicate to work through challenges, it’s certainly ours.

It’s time to reconnect and use PTC’22 to set the stage for the remainder of the year. As never before, it’s critical to renew friendships, catch up with colleagues, and focus on the year ahead.

PTC is extremely proud to be the cornerstone of such an important activity and play a small part in everyone’s success in 2022.

PTC Awards

Every year PTC presents awards to the industry to recognize achievements and Telecom Review is happy to help in the process.

One winner this year was Telstra. Oliver Camplin-Warner, CEO of Telstra International, said “This Outstanding Submarine award is a true testament to the dedication and hard work of our teams across the globe. We’re committed to providing long-term value in Asia-Pacific and around the world for decades to come, building our capability to adjust and respond with agility to whatever lies ahead. This is a responsibility we don’t take lightly especially at a time when it's never been more important to help keep the world connected.”

The D&I Champion award recognized Telstra’s efforts to consistently foster a supportive and fully inclusive work environment for all employees, with a focus on empowerment, career development, innovative recruiting and workplace culture.

Camplin-Warner added, “Telstra believes that a commitment to D&I is a commitment to the success of our entire organization. We place as much emphasis on our people and our culture as we do on our customer-focused deliverables, because D&I is everyone's business.”
