The President of Telefónica, José María Álvarez-Pallete, met with the President of Brazil, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, to reaffirm Telefónica’s commitment to this country.

Álvarez-Pallete said, “It is always a pleasure for me to return to Brazil, my second home, where I grew up personally and professionally, and where we can proudly say that Telefónica is the market leader with more than 113 million customers.”

Additionally, the President of Telefónica added, “Brazil is one of Telefónica’s four key markets, and along with Spain, they are the two operations that contribute the most revenue, margin, and cash flow to the Group.”

Telefónica has been present in Brazil since 1998 and has been an active part of the market’s consolidation. Through its Vivo brand, it enjoys a leading position both in terms of customers and financial results.

Looking ahead, Telefónica aims to further expand its customer base, continue deploying a differentiated network, and capture the opportunities offered by fiber optics (FTTH) and network sharing.

On June 22 and 26, the Boards of Directors of Anatel and Telefónica Brazil approved the terms and conditions of the Self-Composition Agreement for the Adaptation of Concession Contracts to Authorization instruments. Final approval is expected in the coming months.
