FiberSense Pty Ltd, has engaged APTelecom LLC to engage prospective customers on its behalf, taking its paradigm shifting DigitalMarine™ service to the wider market.

DigitalMarine is a ground-breaking technological solution that offers previously unavailable real-time intelligence to submarine cable operators. The proprietary system, which installs in cable landing stations and operates without consuming fiber assets, remotely senses activity in the vicinity of a submerged optical fiber cable. Capable of detecting seismographic, geological and human activities that might affect the cable, as well as providing early warning of issues with the cable itself, DigitalMarine offers unprecedented levels of actionable information to the system’s operator.

Suitable for being designed into new systems, or retro-fitted to those already in service, interest in this type of physical interaction detection capability is strong, especially in markets where human activity close to shore threatens the integrity of submarine communication networks that are increasingly critical across the world’s economies.

Raj Jayawardena, EVP of Business Development and Transformation for FiberSense, said, “We are pleased to have secured the services of APTelecom at this critical juncture of our marine service’s lifecycle. We are looking to rapidly scale out our deployments and engaging APTelecom enables us to quickly secure an experienced global salesforce with strong connections into our prospective customer base.”

Sean Bergin, President and Co-founder of APTelecom, said, “We are excited to be working with such an innovative client as FiberSense. We expect their technology to generate a high degree of excitement in the subsea cable community where security is an ever-escalating concern and we look forward to engaging with our submarine cable clients—and all operators of suitable submarine cables—to bring this valuable solution to their attention.”
