Kinetic by Windstream, a long-trusted community partner for high-speed internet, announced today it is creating a new engineering and fiber construction organization to manage its broadband expansion across 18 states. The company plans to add nearly 1,000 jobs.

“We are committed to building the best fiber network for our customers. To accomplish that we are internalizing construction operations, ensuring the people that build the network will also operate it. This is another exciting step in our long-term multi-billion dollar build initiative to bring fiber services into our communities. This is a great day for Kinetic, our employees and the communities we serve,” said Jeff Small, Kinetic president.

The company will honor its current construction project contracts, which run through the end of 2021. It will begin staffing the internal construction team in the fourth quarter to take over new projects starting in 2022. The new construction teams will be based in more than 70 locations across the Kinetic footprint, enabling the company to operate more efficiently and better manage costs for fiber construction and maintenance.

Additionally, Kinetic announced that Vermeer Corporation in Pella, Iowa, will be the company’s strategic supplier of construction equipment for the new engineering and outside plant organization.

“I was proud to sign legislation into law that will serve as a catalyst to one of the most significant broadband build-outs in the nation,” said Iowa Gov. Kim Reynolds. “Investing in broadband connectivity is opening new doors to real opportunities for all communities across Iowa. This is just the beginning and the state’s 100-million-dollar commitment will leverage resources from innovative companies like Vermeer and Kinetic to create a powerful network that enables fast, high quality connectivity everywhere in Iowa.”

“Vermeer, with its network of dealers, has quickly established itself as a key partner in our mission to expand broadband service to rural America. We are especially proud to source this critical equipment through a company that is both locally-owned and headquartered in a Kinetic community,” Small said.

“At Vermeer, we believe getting more people access to high-speed communications is vital to the growth of our communities nationwide,” said Jerry Beyer, director of sales at Vermeer Corporation. “We are excited to bring our broad lineup of fiber installation equipment and expert dealer support to help companies like Kinetic by Windstream quickly scale to complete this important work.”

Kinetic by Windstream is committed to deploying fiber services to communities across its 18-state footprint. This fast, reliable connection allows residential customers symmetrical gig speeds to navigate the internet safely from home with no lag times while working, attending virtual classes or streaming entertainment services. Businesses ranging from small to enterprise can take advantage of the fiber network to deploy solutions, such as OfficeSuite UC® and SD-WAN, that make their companies more efficient and profitable.
