It is that time of the year when the Holidays arrive and one of your first clues is that the MEF 16 event is almost here! Telecom Review is the Global Media Partner for this event and as you can tell by the front cover the MEF group is ready to welcome you.

The Telecom Review Leaders Summit is on December 13 and we are looking forward to a large crowd. This is the seventh year for the event and we look forward to seeing industry leaders from around the world that have attended in the past, along with new guests.

The PTC event will be held in Hawaii in January, and that is always well attended by industry veterans. Once again, Telecom Review is a media sponsor for the event, and we look forward to seeing you there. It is a great venue to meet members of our industry and get a chance to do business with them. There are large numbers of Asian, North American and South American attendees so be sure and make your plans early!

This issue not only follows MEF trends but also some recent industry consolidations.  This includes Cleareon and PEG, and the new Uniti Fiber. We also feature the new expansion of Windstream which is certainly expanding.

Fixed networks will continue to play a key role in achieving network transformation and true convergence with mobile as the world moves relentlessly into the seamless communications era of 5G and the Internet of Things (IoT). That was the resounding message given to the market by Federico Guillen, president of Nokia’s Fixed Network Business Group, and featured in this issue.

We wish all of you a happy holiday season.
